College Students

College is an exciting time and a time of great growth and change!

For the first time, students are often managing nearly every aspect of their lives independently. In addition to college coursework, they may be balancing jobs, internships, extracurricular activities, social commitments, finances, health responsibilities, and life away from home.

While college provides tremendous opportunities for growth, it also requires a level of independence that many students have never been expected to maintain before.

Life Skills Coaching

Success in college involves much more than academics.

Many students benefit from support in areas such as:

  • Time management

  • Planning and prioritization

  • Creating and maintaining routines

  • Managing coursework across multiple classes

  • Planning ahead for exams, projects, and papers

  • Balancing academics, work, and social commitments

  • Managing appointments and responsibilities

  • Self-advocacy

  • Problem-solving and decision-making

  • Goal setting and follow-through

  • Laundry and Routines

  • Developing independence and self-confidence

  • Prioritizing competing responsibilities

  • Learning how to study efficiently

I regularly work with students who experience:

  • Learning Challenges

  • ADHD and ADD

  • Anxiety

  • Executive Functioning Challenges

  • Gifted and High-Achieving

  • Gifted and Twice Exceptional such as students who are gifted as well having ADHD and/or a Learning Disability

College students often know what they should be doing but struggle to consistently follow through. Together, we develop practical systems that help students manage responsibilities, reduce overwhelm, and build confidence.

As students encounter new situations and responsibilities, coaching provides a safe place to think through challenges, explore options, practice communication skills, and develop solutions.

The goal is not to tell students what decisions to make. The goal is to help them identify areas of need and to develop the confidence and systems needed for growth.

The ideal time to coach for college transitioning is the summer before college begins or at the beginning of the first semester. This allows students the space to vision, build systems for success, and plan for how they want the success of their college experiences to unfold. This ensures we aren't leaving all of this to students to figure out all by themselves.

My Approach - Academic Coaching, Executive Functioning, and Life Skills

One of my greatest strengths is helping students take something that feels overwhelming and turn it into a clear plan of action. I help students identify what's important and then create systems by  breaking large challenges into smaller, manageable steps.

Many college students know what they need to do. Their challenge is figuring out how to consistently do it. Together, we build systems, routines, accountability, and habits that support long-term success.

Learning should also be enjoyable. Students grow best when they feel supported, understood, and encouraged. Coaching sessions often include problem-solving conversations, brainstorming, goal setting, accountability, strategy development, and practical skill-building designed around the student's individual needs.

My goal is not simply to help students earn better grades. My goal is to help them become capable, confident young adults who understand how they learn, how they function best, and how to successfully manage the responsibilities of adulthood.

Students will remember how they felt about themselves during this important season of life. Everything I do is designed with the student's future memory of themselves in mind. I want students to leave sessions feeling capable, resilient, independent, and proud of what they can accomplish.

Monitoring and Accountability Program

For students who maintain weekly sessions with me, I offer ongoing accountability and check-ins between sessions through text messages and phone calls as needed.

Both students and parents may receive communication depending on the student's age, preferences, and family goals.

This additional support helps students stay focused on assignments, deadlines, responsibilities, and goals while developing the independence necessary for long-term success. Over time, the goal is for students to rely less on external accountability and more on the systems and habits they have built for themselves.

These life skills often determine whether a student feels successful and confident while away from home.

My coaching helps students learn practical strategies for managing everyday responsibilities while building the confidence needed to navigate adulthood successfully.

The habits, systems, and confidence students develop during these years often become the foundation for future success.

My ultimate goal is to help students leave college not only with academic success, but with the skills, confidence, and independence necessary to thrive in the next chapter of their lives.
